January 29, 1926 - August 1, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce Frank’s peaceful passing.
Frank was born in the Willow Bunch hospital and raised on a farm near Fife Lake, SK. Being raised by community minded parents instilled in him a lifelong commitment to communication, caring, and helping others.
Frank chose to be a teacher. His first school was a one room schoolhouse in Hilton, SK; 46 students in grades 1-10. He also taught in Gainsborough, Carnduff, and Estevan. It was in Estevan, where he danced his way into Marjorie’s heart and they were married in 1955. In 1967, he began his Guidance Counsellor career in Saskatoon at Aden Bowman, retiring in 1984.
Music had always been his great passion; singing around the piano on the farm, singing in church choirs, solos, and barbershop quartets. Frank was the first conductor for the Chimo Chordsmen barbershop chorus.
Further hearing loss created time for his other interests; photography, woodworking, computers, upholstery, gardening, and genealogy. In 2004, they moved to The Bentley. Always a gentleman, he became the unofficial greeter wanting to make each new resident feel welcome in their new community. In January 2023, he moved to Parkville Manor. He enjoyed life in his new community of friends. It was there he passed away, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is predeceased by his wife Marjorie (Hood) and his eldest daughter Wendy “Denean”. He is loved and deeply missed by his son Kim Strange, daughter Janine Campbell (Bruce); grandchildren Jordyn (Brad), Adam (Stephanie), Kristen (Travis), Danny, Logan (Shayla), David (Nikki), Jacob (Faith); great grandchildren, Gabriel, Eli, Quinn, Elsie, and Lochlan.
In lieu of flowers, mindful of Frank’s dedication to community, please make a donation to your charity of choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held mid-September.
