He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Lydia (Lee); son Robert (Bob); brothers Ralph and Reginald; and sister Evelyn Perrin. Mac is survived by his son Dean (Donna); daughter Leslie Tilbury (Paul); daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren: Diane, Brenda, Alison, Julia, Madison, Michael, Leah; and great-grandson Caleb.
Mac was born in Regina, SK, to Ralph and Annie (nee MacPherson). Mac lived in Fort Qu’Appelle before the family moved to Saskatoon in 1945. He attended Buena Vista, King George, and Technical Collegiate. Mac started playing hockey at the age of eight, which was his great passion, playing for his school then the Saskatoon Wesleys, creating lifelong teammates, many of whom he continued to play with, well into his 60’s.
Mac and Lee oversaw a welcoming family home on Haultain Ave, summers filled with the sounds of their family and many friends enjoying the pool Mac constructed in their back yard.
His career with Culligan Water saw him travel extensively through Western Canada rising to Regional Manager, before retiring to run his own business venture for as long as his failing eyesight allowed. His love of travel continued with trips to Europe, Canada’s Westcoast and the U.S.
Mac will be remembered as a loving husband and supportive Dad. A loyal friend to many, never happier than when listening to his favorite big band artists, enjoying an Italian meal or a hearty breakfast. His hockey and golf games always required an end of game “beverage” to quench his thirst.
The family would like to thank the many nurses, care aids and the other caring professionals who supported Mac in his last few years as well as the team at Village Rose HealthCare and the long-time support of OverC Health Advocates.
There will be no service as per Mac’s request. Arrangements are in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services.
