July 4, 1936 – April 29, 2017
George passed away peacefully the morning of April 29th with his family by his side. He left us all for a better place, his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior. George was a loving, patient, caring man who always put his family first and would go above and beyond to make sure they were taken care of and happy. He was a remarkable handy man, he enjoyed coming up with ideas to fix and build, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. George worked for nearly 25 years as a printer at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. Dad and Mom had their own printing business, The Langham Press. Then for over 40 years together with his wife Shirley he built a successful, profitable network marketing company where they made many wonderful life long friends. Mom and Dad enjoyed lots of traveling, and always had the best stories to share. They were able to take their whole family and children on a very special holiday to Hawaii, and took all of their grandchildren on special trips to Disney World. They built a cabin at Candle Lake where the whole family spent many memorable summers. We will miss sitting out on the deck with you and having our morning coffee. He worked long, hard hours to provide a good life for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally and his precious great grandchildren brought him so much happiness and put a sparkle in his eye; he enjoyed every visit. Family get togethers were a big part of Dad's life. Whenever we parted Dad always left us with the word's we will always remember, “Be careful”. George was strong, loyal, patient, admired and deeply loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Wiens), married June 24th 1960, his three children Joanne (Brian Norrie), Doug Rudd, Lorelei Nemanishin; Grandchildren, Allistar, Megan (Justin), Bevan (April), Michael, Kyle, Nadine (Joel), and Nicole. His Great grandchildren Liam, Makenzie, Myla, Farrah, Aurora, Kashton, and Alleyah. George also leaves behind his loving brother Barry Rudd (Clara), sister in-law Yvette Rudd, brothers in-law Eugene Wiens, John Wiens (Chris), along with his nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Viola, twin brother Gordon and grandson Shaun. Thank-you Dad for teaching us the importance of family, making time for what matters and showing us how to go after our dreams. We are most thankful and grateful for the compassionate care that the palliative care nurses provided to help Shirley keep George at home so he could be with his family and friends. A special thank-you to Sheila, Gayle and Jesse. The Funeral Service to take place Wednesday May 3rd at 10:30am at the Riverbend Church of God (306 Saguenay Drive, Saskatoon SK.) Presiding will be Pastor Chris Pudel. A private family interment will take place following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in George's memory may be made to World Vision or The Gideon's International in Canada. Arrangements are in care of MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306) 978-5200
