Born in Miskolc Hungary, Georgina and her mother escaped the country during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Leaving behind her cherished grandmother and two younger sisters, this experience marked her heart and shaped her life.
Once in Canada, Georgina faced many challenges including learning English, adapting to Canadian society, and taking care of her younger siblings while her parents re-trained to find employment.
Georgina started her family young and is survived by her husband Marcel and their four children Chris (Matt), Pat (Craig), Real (Sheila), and Nicolle, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Georgina was a smart, skilled, and impressive woman perfecting dozens of skills and hobbies throughout her life. Her spirit shone brightest when visiting a greenhouse, tending to her plants, exploring new recipes, or working her fingers through fabric and yarn.
Georgina was witty, sharp minded, and always truthful. These traits made her incredibly engaging to be around and at her core she was a generous soul who showed great compassion towards others. She showed her love in portion sizes, always making 48 buns instead of 12.
Georgina passed away peacefully with her family by her side. We will remember Georgina every time we water our milk cactuses, take a bite of chocolate cake, or slice dumplings into a roaring pot of water. She will live on through those that loved her most.
The family would like to thank the compassionate care team at the Hospice at Glengarda. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. Graveside service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Ashley Knash.
