The death of Gin Tong (Tom) Lee of Saskatoon occurred on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Royal University Hospital. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday May 13th at Windsor Chapel at 704 Windsor St, conducted by Pastor Wilson Kaan. Interment will follow in the Chinese section at Woodlawn cemetery. Gin Tong was born in Canton (Guangzhou), China on September 1, 1934. He became a Canadian citizen in 1955 and was working in Hodgeville, Sask. From 1970 to 1973, Tom and his late wife Sun Cheung made their home in Swift Current. In 1973, they moved to Landis where they ran the local cafe. In 1981, they moved to Saskatoon and purchased a restaurant, Haultain Lunch. From 1985 until his retirement in 1999, they lived in Radisson and operated the Radisson Cafe. Gin Tong is survived by his children: Mary and daughter Katie of Westminster, CO; Bill (Kimmy) of Las Vegas, NV and their children Justin, Maylynh, and Nathan; Lillian (Frank) Ponting and their children James and Kayla of Arvada, CO; Janet (Kirk) of Vancouver, BC; his niece Sonya of Saskatoon, and James Ponting's daughter Vivianna. Gin Tong was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gin Tong had a strong work ethic, great sense of determination, sense of humor and was very outgoing. He loved to go out and socialize, have coffee with friends plus one of his favorite hobbies was fishing. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his friends and family.
