Grace Booker passed away peacefully at the St. Paul’s Hospital on Monday December 2, 2024 at the age of 92 years. Grace Mary Frances Booker Nee Robertson was born on the family farm west of Liberty, SK. on December 30, 1931.
Grace was born a prairie farm girl and grew up on the family farm and attended school at Ridge Hill (a country school) before finishing school at Free Soil School in Liberty SK. She attained her teaching certificate by attending Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK.
She settled in Meadow Lake SK after her marriage to Charles Ivan Booker in 1961 and lived there until 2017 when she moved to Saskatoon and resided at Luther Riverside Terrace. She also summered at the family cabin at Jeanette Lake and for some years wintered in Yuma AZ.
She was active in her church life, Eastern Star, enjoyed her flower gardens (even maintain a small garden while at Riverside Terrace), playing cards and games, watching her sports teams (Riders, Jays, and any curling or the Olympics), and coffee with friends or relatives.
Grace was a teacher at various schools around Saskatchewan including Lake City (east of Imperial SK), Imperial SK, Eston SK, Kindersley SK, Carpenter High, Jubilee, Westview, and finishing up her career of 29 ½ years at Martin Gran School all in Meadow Lake SK. She also taught for 3 years in Whitehorse in the Yukon.
She considered all the children she taught “her kids” and held them dear to her heart and wanted the best for all of them.
She was predeceased by husband Charles Ivan Booker, parents Philip and Lena Robertson, siblings Clarence, Cecil, Alice, Gladys, and June. A proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves behind her two children and their families along with a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families, who all brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Left to cherish her memory are two children: Glen (Jean-Anne Campbell), and Garth (Leslie Goguen), 6 grandchildren: Tara, Katie, Stephanie (Marc), Graham, Hannah, Samuel, and 1 great-grandchild Benjamin.
A celebration of Grace's life will be held Sunday February 16th 2pm at Mayfair United Church located at 902 33rd St West, Saskatoon SK with reception to follow.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Meadow Lake SK.
