Born on her family’s farm near Colgate Sask in the winter of 1934, she was the daughter to Theodore (Ted) and Antonina Jaworski, Polish immigrants who came to Canada in 1929. She was sister to brothers George, Art and Henry also of Weyburn Sk.
She led the typical life of a young girl on a farm, enduring the hardships during WW2 and the enthusiasm of a better world afterwards. Her family would move from the farm in Colgate Sk, to Hume Sk and finally to the family farm 4 miles east of Weyburn in 1940.
It was there she met a young man named Adam Kaliniewicz, dated and got married in 1956 and begin life in their new home in Weyburn.
Adam would work on the railway while Irene took a part time job working at a local drycleaner until the birth of their first child Brian in 1959 when she took on the most important and treasured role of her life – mother.
In 1963 she gave birth to her second son Garth followed by her youngest boy, Kevin in 1972 and continued to reside in Weyburn until 1975 when they moved to Canora Sask.
It was there that she watched Brian and Garth graduate and move on to the start of their new lives, taking with them all the love and wisdom and kindness taught to them by their mom.
Another move was in store for Adam and Irene as another transfer with the railway took them to Winnipeg Manitoba for a few years before eventually moving one last time to Saskatoon in 1985 where they lived out the rest of their lives and saw Kevin graduate.
Celebrating her 3 boys get married and have children of their own, Irene took immense pleasure in being a grandmother to Christopher, Carlene, Kristi, Brent and Brayden. She loved watching the kids, taking them to the park, playing with them and spoiling them as only a grandmother can. It was truly a great joy of her life and watching her genuine love, calm and patience gave us all a template to what truly matters in life.
One could not ask for a better mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mentor for how a successful life is led than Irene blessed us with.
Irene loved to spend countless hours in her garden and looking after the many plants she had around the home always. She also loved taking care of her family and making sure everyone was well taken care of, including always having a wonderful meal and desert on the table everyday.
One of the great joys of Irene’s life was taking care of her family. She was so proud of everyone and never asked for anything in return. She always made sure everyone else was taken care of and was just fine making sure everyone else was happy….that made her happy!
Irene was one of the most patient people I’ve ever known. Nothing seemed to get her riled up or mad. Her calm demeanor made everyone around her feel so welcomed and cared for, something she carried for the rest of her life.
One of the few sorrows in her life was the sudden passing of her husband Adam after 57 years of marriage in 2013. She then left the family home and moved into a seniors apartment and later Irene was moved into a seniors care home after starting to suffer from dementia. The last year of her life she moved into St Anne’s Care Home where she bid farewell to a long, blessed and successful life.
Irene is predeceased by her parents Ted and Antonina, brother George, husband Adam, and survived by her sons Brian (wife Shelley), Garth (wife Joan) and Kevin (wife Tammi) as well as grandchildren Christopher, Carlene, Kristi, Brent and Brayden as well as great grandchildren Grey, Miller and Jude. She also has two brothers Art and Henry both of Weyburn.
Although she will be missed by all who knew her, she will never be forgotten and treasured in our hearts.
