With heavy hearts, the family of Irene Marie Schlosser (nee Jordens) announces her passing on Wednesday, March 31st, at Oliver Lodge Special Care Home, Saskatoon, at the age of 81. She was a beloved wife, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, friend and a woman of great faith. She left this world peacefully and is now free and singing in heaven.
Irene was born on March 27, 1940, in Kennedy, SK. She was the daughter of her loving parents, the late Tony and Lucille Jordens. She completed her education at Kennedy and moved on to Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, where she proudly completed her nursing training. This began her lifelong career of caregiving.
Irene’s first nursing position was in Indian Head, SK. There, one night the bankers visited the nurses. Irene played the piano while the others sang along. Not long after that, John Robert “Bob” Schlosser married Irene, the love of his life. Together they had 4 children. Irene created a warm home for her family filled with adventure, laughter, family dinners, parties with friends and always music.
Throughout her life, she continued to work outside the home at Cosmopolitan Learning Center, Regina, Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon, and Saskatoon Home Support. Somehow, Irene still managed to attend most of her children’s sports games, music concerts and school events while also always being by Bob’s side for their very active life within the Royal Bank and the Knights of Columbus.
Irene is survived by her husband Bob of 58 years, their children: Barclay (Kelly), Kennedy and Wyatt (Stephanie), Valerie Grandy (Rob), Olivia, Jeff (Andrea) and Laurianne Tuttle (Ward), Jack, her sisters: Marie Parent, Yvonne (Jim) Wood and her brother Barry (Darlene) Jordens, her brother and sisters-in-law: Marlene (Jack) Eberle, Vicky Schlosser, Len (Dolores) Schlosser, Paulette (Terry) Jacobson, Myrna Kuntz, and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was predeceased by her dear infant granddaughter, her angel, Anna Tuttle and brothers-in-law Ray Parent, Ray Wadden, Nick Eberly, Mike Schlosser and Conrad Kuntz.
Irene’s family would like to thank the staff at Hyde Park View and especially Oliver Lodge Special Care home, who lovingly tended to Irene’s needs through these last months while the pandemic restricted the family’s opportunity to be with her. They are very grateful.
