Because grade twelve was not offered in Somme, she moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to complete high school. And there she met her future husband, Earl Tweedie. After that year she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to attend “Normal School” and years later the U of S.
Isabelle and Earl were married in 1956 and together they had four beautiful children; Karen, John, Dawn and Jeffery. The Tweedie family lived mainly in Saskatoon and area from that time on.
With exceptions for four years as a ward clerk at City Hospital, one year teaching in a country school in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan and two terms teaching high school in Nunavut. Isabelle spent the majority of her working life teaching in what was then known as Saskatoon (East) School Division at Dundurn Elementary and Clavet Composite.
Isabelle enjoyed planning her days around sport schedules and being an avid Rough Riders fan. She always enjoyed taking the kids to the games. She also enjoyed and cherished her time socializing with friends and playing cards.
Isabelle suffered much loss in her years; she was predeceased by her infant son John (1958), husband Earl (1978), Daughter Dawn, son Jeff and daughter Karen Cristiano all in 2012. Brother Bruce Hodgson (2020), and sister Fay Rupert (2020).
Isabelle is survived by her granddaughter Lara Cristiano, sister Marian Kump and sister in law Linda Hodgson. As well as a niece and several nephews. She will be forever missed by many great friends and colleagues.
Isabelle is so thankful for all of the love and support she has received from her and Earl’s families and old friends over the years. Many thanks to kind and caring neighbors Shannon and Darren Mulligan and family. And especially to old friends and neighbors Sharon and Fred Blum who have always been there for her as well as kind neighbor Judy Killoh. Also a very special thank you to Rose, Isabelle’s care giver, you have been a god send and meant a great deal to her.
At Isabelle’s request there will be no funeral service. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery where Isabelle will be placed alongside Earl.
Arrangements have been entrusted to one of many former students of Mrs. Tweedie, Amanda Williams of Mourning Glory - Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel. If wished donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
