August 22, 1931 - April 9, 2015
Early on Thursday, April 9th, 2015, James Robert Affleck passed away peacefully, with his faithful wife at his side at the Preston Extendicare in Saskatoon. Jim was born August 22nd, 1931 to Wylie and Anna Affleck, the youngest of 4 children. He was raised in Demaine, SK and attended trade school in Saskatoon while he worked in Moosomin and Beechy before moving to Saskatoon. In 1960, Jim married Gisela Pihrag and together they raised 4 children. Jim is survived by his loving wife Gisi Affleck, his daughter Norine (Paul) Borys of Gilbert, AZ, son Dean Affleck (a minister of the gospel in Europe), son Lee (Sharon) Affleck of Edmonton, AB, and daughter Jill Affleck of Saskatoon. Also surviving are two grand-daughters, Melissa Borys and Racquel Affleck of Edmonton, AB, and five grandsons Jamieson Borys, Winnipeg, MB, Jefferson (Amy) Borys, Grand Forks, ND, Benjamin Borys, Salt Lake City, UT, Austin Affleck and Andre Affleck, Edmonton, AB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by both parents, sisters Grace Hall and Mae Thurlow, and brother Mel Affleck. Jim and Gisi lived for over 50 years at 222 - 3rd Street in Saskatoon where their home was open to family, friends and God’s ministers and where friends gathered Sunday mornings for fellowship. As Jim’s health failed, he and his wife moved to their new home on Adelaide Street, Saskatoon. Following this, Jim resided at the Preston Extendicare home, where he was lovingly cared for by his wife and the kind staff at the care home. Jim was a master mechanic and enjoyed over 34 years of employment at Auto Clearing of Saskatoon. In addition to the thousands of customers that Jim served during his career, he was very generous with his time and expertise in helping friends with automotive and mechanical repairs. Over the years he invented, created and manufactured many specialty tools, equipment, watercraft, aircraft, machinery and gadgets. Jim’s primary profession was serving his heavenly Father. His example of diligence in study, meditation and worship is appreciated by all who came in contact with him. There will be time for visitation from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 at Mourning Glory Funeral Services (1201 8th Street, Saskatoon).
