She was born to Paul and Rebecca (Kleinsasser) Clavelle in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and
raised in Viscount. She attended St Alphonse school and took her high school at St Ursuline
Academy in Prelate, Saskatchewan. In her final year at the Academy, she worked as a study
supervisor in Shaunavon. In 1960-61 she attended Teachers’ College in Saskatoon.
Jeannette taught in Watrous for one year before returning to university to obtain her Permanent
Teachers Certificate. The following year she taught in Saskatoon at St. Charles School. For
some adventure, she signed a two-year volunteer contract with Prince George Catholic
Diocese stationed in Kitimat. She was delighted to return to Saskatoon, to teach at St. John
School. She transferred to E. D. Feehan High School teaching Christian Ethics and social
studies until her retirement in 1991.
While teaching, she continued to study, obtaining her Bachelor of Religious Education at
Newman Theological College in Edmonton. Travelling in Western Europe, parts of Africa and
the Middle East enriched her teaching of social studies.
During her retirement Jeannette worked for St Patrick’s Parish and for the Diocese of
Saskatoon coordinating the RCIA program. Jeannette continued her studies earning her
Masters in Theological Studies. From 2002 to 2008 she taught on-line classes in Church
History, Liturgy, and the Sacraments for Newman Theological College. St. Patrick’s Parish was
a very important part of her life.
She was an avid Star Trek fan, attending many conventions in Las Vegas, from which she
acquired a sizeable collection of memorabilia. Jeannette loved to read; murder mysteries and
sci-fi were her favourite genre.
Jeannette was predeceased by her parents and her brother Paul. She is survived by cousins
and close friends.
