Joan Frances Laewetz

Joan Frances Laewetz (McMunn) left this world surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, March 3rd, 2023. She was a strong, independent woman who lived 88 years of her life with humour and wit. She was always ready to take your money at cards, visit over a rum, or watch her favorite sports on TV. Joan spent summers at Wakaw which quickly became her second home. She loved it there and all the people that came with it. Over the years, Joan was so fortunate to have many wonderful friends come into her life. She was grateful for them all.

Joan adored her family. She raised 4 boys who she couldn’t have loved more. Jeff (Alfreda), Brad, Chris (Carol), Greg (Shylla). In 2021, she lost a piece of her heart when her son Brad passed away. She was very hopeful to be reunited again. Joan was so proud of her grandkids. Her boys Josh, Bryce & Alex, and her girls Ashley, Jocelyn & Brynn. She also got to be Great Grandma to Eden, Rylan, Lexi, Emmy, Vayda, & Remi. A very special thanks to bonus granddaughter Karen who went above and beyond these last few months. This past Fall, Joan made one last trip back to her home province of Manitoba to see her cousin Louise (Bill), her brother Jack, and his very loving family.

To celebrate a life well lived, please cheer a bit louder for the Riders this season and have a cocktail with the ones you love for our sweet “Grandma Laewetz”. Joan & Brad will be laid to rest at her family plot in Reston, MB when the sun is shining.
