Katherine “Katie” Woytowich lived a long and meaningful life, reaching the age of 96. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the lasting impact she had on those who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her husband Peter and daughter Judy (Ed), she is lovingly remembered by her children: Mary Jane (Michael), Sharon (Casey), Barry (Pamela), and Darlene; grandchildren: Kate, Brittany (Dave), Chris (Jenna), Ken (Manon), Brian (Courtney), and Heather; and great- grandchildren Emilia and Magnus; her sister-in-law Sylvia and extended family; and her close friends: Mary, Greg, Nicholas, and Elaine.
Born in Ukraine of German descent, Katie immigrated to Canada as a teenager with her brother Alex and mother Anna Ollenberger.
Mom was a phenomenal cook and baker. She worked at the Dell Restaurant and Sheraton Cavalier, from where she retired. Her love of cooking continued, and her family remembers her pierogies, cabbage rolls, cinnamon buns, and lemon meringue pies she so generously lavished on them. In her later years, Mom struggled with loss of sight and in the last few years, congestive heart failure. She was a resilient woman with a quiet disposition, making friends easily at Columbian Manor and Preston Park. Mom lived a life guided by faith and her love of family. We will miss her dearly.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the St. Paul’s Palliative Care staff for the loving care they gave Mom in her final days. Our family will gather for a private funeral mass at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
