A legacy of love - Lenore's life began 77 years ago in Scott Saskatchewan. Having grown up in the shadow of the Great Depression (without indoor plumbing) Lenore came to appreciate early on what is truly important in life - family, friends and community.
Lenore was pure kindness and love. She was outgoing and generous in spirit. Her everlasting smile would brighten up a room. She was a true friend and was blessed with many deep friendships. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. She lived a passionate life. She loved music and played the piano by ear and was always ready to accompany a sing along.
Lenore was married to her best friend and true love, Harold, for 38 years. They retired early at age 56 and were blessed with many good years at Turtle Lake and winters in Arizona. She was a proud mom who gave to her children Darren Barmby and Alana Barmby (Robert Armstrong) the gift of unconditional love and support. Their home was always a gathering place. She was a devoted grandmother to Marly, Mason and Jade. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved puppies and gran-puppies.
Mom was a natural leader, planner, and organizer extraordinaire. She could always be counted on to help out whether it being the President of our community association, the Mayor of Kopps Kove, devoted church elder at the Turtle Lake Mission - to name just a few. She gave her very best to make where ever she was the best place to be.
Trained initially as a nurse, Lenore went back to school at the age of 50 and found her true calling as a Registered Massage Therapist. She practiced until age 75. Lenore found great satisfaction helping alleviate others physical and emotional pain. She had the hands and heart of a true healer.
Her deep faith in God brought her comfort after she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer almost two years ago. She faced this illness with the same grace and optimism with which she lived her life. And she did so on her own terms with the support of natural therapies. Lenore died at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Her everlasting legacy was her unconditional love and kindness. Instead of flowers please donate to Prairie Hospice Society or a charity of your choice. Lenore would hope you would celebrate her life with an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in her honour.
A Celebration of Lenore’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Circle Drive Alliance Church (3035 Preston Ave South) Arrangements in care of MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200)
