Les is lovingly remembered by his son Adam, daughter-in-law Eve, and his cherished granddaughter Zahra, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Katie Weninger, and his sister, Valerie Weninger.
Les was born on May 8, 1955, and grew up in Allan, Saskatchewan. He had a passion and talent for playing hockey. He later settled in Saskatoon, where he spent nearly all of his adult life.
Les worked for the City of Saskatoon for many years and was known for his easygoing nature and great sense of humor. He was always good for a laugh and never took life too seriously. He had a deep love for rock music and especially enjoyed sharing that passion with his son. One of his favorite traditions was attending Rock the River each summer at the Bessborough Gardens — something he continued to enjoy even after losing a leg, showing his resilience and love for life.
Les had a fondness for simple pleasures: ginger ale, watching the Discovery Channel, and a lifelong fascination with snakes. Above all, he will be remembered for his gentle spirit, and smile that could light up a room.
The Weninger family extends sincere gratitude to the staff at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon for caring for Les in his last year of life.
A celebration of life will be held in Spring 2026 with a small gathering. Les’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside his parents at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
Les will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
