Lois was born on July 4, 1946 in Warman, Saskatchewan. She married Trevor Stopa and they raised two children, Terry and Trent, in Saskatoon. The boys, and the families they have created, brought Lois endless joy; she loved travelling to British Columbia to visit them.
In 2003, Lois needed an organ transplant and Trent selflessly donated one of his kidneys to save her life. It was during this recovery that she reconnected with a high school sweetheart from sixty years ago, Everett Wood. Some may argue that a hospital isn’t the most romantic setting to rekindle a romance, but the stars aligned for these two lovebirds, and they married in August 2006. In the years that followed, they enjoyed travelling to warm climates-Puerto Vallarta was a favourite-to escape the cold Saskatchewan winters. While probably hard to believe, Lois was equally happy to be at home on the couch with a book in hand and a dog by her side.
To know Lois was to witness her cutting wit, her competitive nature at games, and her incredible pride in her boys and grandchildren. She often spoke about the connection she shared with Trent, along with gratitude that her new kidney outlasted everyone’s expectations.
Lois is survived by her boys Terry (Naomi) and Trent (Hayley), sister Norma (Larry) and brother Arley, five grandchildren, and husband Everett and his three children Todd, Tish (Tim), and Odia (Tim). Lois was predeceased by her parents John and Clara Kroeker, brother Wayne, sister Doreen, and brother-in-law Dieder.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Shoker (her guru), Nicole, Debbie and his team for the exceptional care they provided for Lois.
