Louella Katherine (née Balzer) Hartz passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025 at the Langham Care Home. She was born in Langham, SK on January 1, 1943, to Jacob and Katherine Balzer. She attended Langham School and then moved to Saskatoon where she took nursing training at the Saskatoon Abilities Council. She then began working at Extendicare, where she met the love of her life, Walter Hartz, who also worked there. They were married August 20, 1988 at Faith Lutheran Church.
Louella and Walter loved travelling and enjoyed guided tours through the Maritime Provinces, Alaska, Europe, and Australia. Louella loved to play her piano and go for walks in her neighborhood. After Walter passed away suddenly in 2003, she moved from her home in Eastview to a condo near Market Mall. Sadly, she developed dementia and moved to the Langham Care Home in 2018, where she was very content and received excellent care during her time there.
Louella was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter Hartz, her parents Jacob and Katherine (née Boehr) Balzer, sister Gladys Reimer, brother Menno Balzer, Norman and Daryl Balzer. Survived by Olga Haffner (Johnnie-dec.), Sella Balzer (Allan-dec.) Edith Warner (Harvey-dec) and Margaret Balzer (Elmer-dec), sisters-in-law June Faber and Verna (Ed) Pogoda as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by these of Walter’s family, Sylvia and George Buurman, George Faber, Jerrold and Geraldine Hartz.
