Louise Doerksen was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Abram Doerksen, and her siblings, Katherina, John, Helena and Maria. She leaves to mourn her nieces and nephews and her friend, Pat Tymchatyn. Louise was born in Morden, MB in 1935 and spent many years doing office work in Winnipeg before moving to Caronport, SK to work at Briercrest College and Seminary. She volunteered with the Mennonite Central Committee and worked at their Pennsylvania warehouse for two and one a half years before moving to Saskatoon in 1989. In Saskatoon, Louise kept busy volunteering with the Saskatoon Health Region, the Council of Aging and the Saskatoon Tract Mission. Louise had a love of learning and spent many hours at the public library attending lectures and taking seniors classes at the University of Saskatchewan. She also loved to read and had a large book collection. Louise was adventurous, spending her holidays taking bus tours. She visited all the Canadian provinces except one and almost all the states in the United States including Alaska. During her life and during her illness her guiding force was her faith. Thank you to City Hospital 6th Floor Convalescent unit staff for taking special care of Louise. A special thank you to her friends at King Edward apartment for their support and friendship. There will be a Graveside Service at Woodlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Officiated by Paul Matheson of First Baptist Church. Anyone wishing to attend, please meet at the gates of Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A reception to celebrate her life will be held at King Edward Apartment (530 25th Street East, Floor 2) at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Service (306) 978-5200.
