September 28, 1948 – March 08, 2017
Marilyn passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital on March 8, 2017, at the age of 68 after enduring a 3-year battle with cancer.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Rosene Yanke of Ebenezer, and survived by her Brother Arden (Sharon), Janice (Brent Kirk), Ardice (Vance Bohn), her children Kiley, Corleen (Rick Foster), and Kloe (Randy Miko) and husband Robert Bergen and his children Kris, Robin (John Kalmakoff), Lindsay (Curt Ballagray) and families.
Upon graduation Marilyn completed a 2-year teaching certificate program at the University of Regina prior to starting her teaching career in Davidson, Saskatchewan. She later married (Les White) where they raised their three children on the farm they built together, for 25 years.
During their years building the farm, Marilyn furthered her love of teaching and completed her Education degree from the University of Saskatoon. She later moved to Saskatoon and demonstrated her strength of character by resuming her teaching career at the Regional Psychiatric Centre for 17 years. During this time, she remarried (Robert Bergen).
Marilyn continued her love of travel with Robert. They also loved dancing, cooking together and entertaining with friends.
Marilyn’s passions included teaching, socializing and "safety meetings" with her girlfriends, painting landscapes, flower gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
We would like to give a very special thanks to the team at Royal University Cancer Clinic, as well as St. Paul’s Palliative Caregivers for their utmost care and compassion during Marilyn’s fight.
