Marlene was born on July 3, 1944 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. The second youngest of four children of parents Paul and Josephine (nee Oleksin) Doppler, she spent her days going to school and helping out with chores on the farm. After graduating high school from St. Ursula Academy in Bruno, she worked at the hospital in Humboldt before moving to the city. In 1964 she married Anthony (Tony) Kopp, and began her life as we came to know it – as a loving, generous, proud and devoted mother. Mark came along first, then Doug, and as a surprise, Danielle came last. Predeceased by Tony in the late 80’s, she became the centralizing force behind the family unit. Mom worked in the home, making sure everyone was happy, healthy, and well fed. In 1990 mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, but was bound and determined to beat the disease, and it never came back. And in another tragedy to befall the family, Doug passed away in the mid 90’s. However, throughout all the hardships and losses, she found the strength to go on. We will always remember mom for her insatiable love of reading, her fondness for her garden and her flowerbeds, her enjoyment of socializing with neighbours and family, her insurmountable strength, and no matter what, her unconditional love. Marlene will be forever remembered by her two surviving children: Mark (Michelle) Kopp of Calgary, AB; and Danielle Kopp of Edmonton, AB; siblings Eileen (Nick) Nikolic of Wabamun, AB; and Ronald (Terry) Doppler of Edmonton, AB; numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and by many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Tony Kopp (1987); son Douglas Kopp (1995); parents Paul Doppler (2004), and Josephine Doppler (2013); and sisters Renilda Doppler (1940), and Dianne Primrose (2009).
