It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marvin Friesen at the age of 76. Marvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully at RUH with his wife Elsie by his side. Marvin was born in Winkler, Manitoba on July 31 1940, and eventually moved to Saskatoon where he met his wife Elsie in August of 1960 and married December 4 1965. He was a kind hearted and a hardworking man who was always there to help when he could. He had a passion for fixing things and loved to teach anyone who would listen, whether it be mechanical or anything around the house. He deeply touched the hearts of all who knew him. December 4, 2015 Marvin and Elsie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Marvin loved to travel with his family across Canada and USA, with the most recent trip in November 2015 to Riviera Maya, Mexico. Marvin worked as a floor coverer, a driver at STS, CP, and then a Trucker (owner operator) before his retirement from STC as the service line supervisor. He loved farming with Elsie’s dad. Marvin leaves behind his loving wife Elsie; son Kevin (Sabine); daughter Tammy; grandchildren Dustin, Chase, Cassidie, Kaytlynn, Arabella and Sebastian; and his two great-granddaughter’s Avril and Hannah; as well as many more family and friends. Marvin was predeceased by his father Abram; mother Helena; father-in-law Herbert Bluett; mother-in-law Easter Bluett; and grandson Samuel. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association Saskatchewan (1231 8th St. E., Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5). A Celebration of Marvin’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Diefenbaker Drive Community Church (3710 Diefenbaker Dr.) in Saskatoon.
