MaryAlice Bergine Sibley, a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 23, 2024, at The Hospice at Glengarda in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends as she concluded her courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 25, 1985, in Saskatoon to Tom & Brenda Sibley, MaryAlice's life was a testament to creativity, warmth, and unwavering optimism. From an early age, her artistic talents flourished, particularly in music. She delighted many with her skillful violin playing and melodious singing, participating in various performances that showcased her musical gifts.
MaryAlice's educational journey began at Prairie Christian Academy for her elementary schooling, followed by her graduation from Holy Cross High School. She further honed her creative skills by attending Marvel Hair School, where she received a diploma in hair design, a talent she generously shared with family and friends.
Her professional life was marked by dedication and friendship. For nine years, MaryAlice worked as a waitress at Grainfields, where she not only served customers with her charismatic warmth but also forged lasting friendships with her colleagues. Later, she found joy working alongside her sister Janelle and brother-in-law Adam in landscaping, an occupation that allowed her to indulge her passion for gardening and connect with nature.
MaryAlice's zest for life was evident in everything she did. Her home was a reflection of her vibrant personality, always decorated for every holiday and open to family and friends for joyous gatherings. She was a generous host, known for her welcoming spirit and the laughter that filled her home during these colorful occasions. Her sense of humor was a beacon of light, shining through even in the most challenging times.
A true lover of nature, MaryAlice sought every opportunity to bask in the sun's warmth. She cherished beach outings and made the most of the summer months. Her affinity for the natural world extended indoors, where she cultivated an impressive collection of plants, transforming her home into a lush, tropical paradise that thrived year-round. In her final days, she brought this paradise with her, surrounding herself with her beloved plants and cheerful song birds.
At the heart of MaryAlice's world were her children, Lexa (12) and Liam (6). She raised them with boundless love and kindness, involving them in her many passions. Together, they created cherished memories swimming, relaxing in their tropical backyard, and engaging in creative activities like baking, painting, and decorating. Her children were truly her universe, and her love for them knew no bounds.
MaryAlice is survived by her children, Lexa and Liam; her parents, Tom & Brenda Sibley; her sisters, Mary Lynn (Mike) Podiluk and their son Julian, and Janelle (Adam) Malczewski; her grandmother, Alice Kusch; and her boyfriend, Fred Myers and his son Carson. Her legacy of love, creativity, and joy will live on through them and all who knew her.
During her illness, MaryAlice found renewed strength in her faith, rededicating her life to Jesus Christ. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who visited MaryAlice and prayed for her during this challenging time. They would also like to express their immense appreciation to the compassionate staff at The Hospice at Glengarda for their extraordinary care. Additional thanks go to the staff at the University Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital for their dedication throughout MaryAlice's journey. A Celebration of Life for MaryAlice “Maria” will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2 at Elim Church (419 Slimmon Rd, Saskatoon) The family extends the invitation to celebrate MaryAlice’s vibrant life by dressing in colour. Arrangements are in care of Aime Laventure.
