Maurice “Jack” John Crilly, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the age of 83, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Jack is survived by his wife Lynne Crilly (nee Lofgren), children Darren Crilly of Saskatoon, Carrie (Erik) Nickel of White City, and sister Velma “Sis” Lyons of Regina. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Crilly of Saskatoon and Jacob Nickel of White City. Jack also considered all pets as family. Jack and Lynne cared for many dogs and cats over the years, most recently enjoying his furry grand doggies Kira and Molly.
Jack was born on December 29, 1939 on a farm near Sovereign, Saskatchewan. After his father’s passing in 1947, his mother sold the family farm and moved Jack and his 3 siblings, Bud, Sis, and Julie, to Saskatoon, where he received his remaining elementary and high school education.
In the mid-1960’s, Jack got his first job with Intercontinental Packers, met Lynne Lofgren, and then married her in Flin Flon, Manitoba in September 1966. Jack worked as an account manager with Intercon for 35 years until 2000. After his retirement, he worked at “Wine Kitz”, turning his wine-making hobby into a fun job he very much valued in his later years.
Jack’s family was his top priority. He wanted them to be a part of a real community and have his children go to great schools, so he settled them into a house in the Avalon area soon after Darren and Carrie were born. He had them taking part in community, sports, and school activities for many years. Jack and Lynne enjoyed working together in their manicured yard, making it their own slice of paradise during the summer months, and a great place to entertain their children, grandchildren, and their dogs, whenever they would come to visit.
In spite of their failing health, Jack loved nothing more than having Lynne by his side in everything they did, and he has steadfastly remained there for the past 57 years.
Jack will be dearly missed by his family, and all the friends he made along the way.
There will be a Graveside Service at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Sovereign Hyland Cemetery in Sovereign, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice at Glengarda via the St Pauls Hospitals Foundation website.
