

The family is very saddened to announce the passing of Nellie on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the age of 83 after a courageous one year battle with cancer. Nellie was born and raised at the family farm in the Krydor district. After completing Grade 12 in Krydor High School, Nellie taught school for one year in the Hafford district. She then attended Robertsons Business College and was employed by the University of Saskatchewan for 35 years, spending the last 29 years at the College of Physical Education. She took an early retirement in 1988. Nellie married George Woznica in 1957. She was active and involved in many organizations, some of which were Professional Secretaries International, Catholic Women’s League, Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate, St. Anne’s Seniors; and she was an active member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church. Nellie loved gardening and took pride in her yard and the many flowers she grew. She loved playing cards, travelling, cruising, and visiting many parts of the world. She enjoyed people and interacting with them. Nellie was predeceased by her husband, George in 1986; her parents, Walter and Lucy Novakowski; brother-in-law, John Bajbula; brother, Jules Nolan; and many extended family members. Nellie is survived and will be sadly missed by her son, Gordon; her loving twin sister, Emily Bajbula; nephews, Ken, Gary, and Derrick; sisters-in-law, Hilairie Nolan and Mary (Alec) Rennie; aunts, Emily Nolan and Rose Novakowski. The family wishes to thank the Oncology ward at RUH, the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital, and Dr. E. Olszynski for their kind and compassionate care. Vigil of Prayer for Nellie will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12; and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13. Both services from St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church (217 Lenore Dr), with Rite of Committal at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nellie’s memory may be made to The Saskatoon Cancer Centre (20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, S7N 4H4).
