In loving memory of Nellie Wright (née Holmes) who passed away peacefully in her care home in Saskatoon on May 24 at the age of 98. Nellie is survived by her daughters Ruth (André) MacAfee, Mary (Warren) Berg, son Scott (Cindy) of Saskatoon, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 45 years, Bruce Wright, her eldest daughter Patricia, and her grandson Patrick.
Nellie was born and raised in Banff finding her love of animals and nature in the world around her. She joined the Navy and served in Halifax before marrying the love of her life and starting a family. After numerous moves as a military wife, she and Bruce eventually settled in Duncan, B.C. where they were avid square and round dancers and frequent figures on the beaches of the area. She found fulfillment in painting, line dancing, and of course, her little dogs when she wasn’t working in a nearby flower shop before moving to Saskatoon in 2017. Nellie’s quick wit and positive outlook assured all around her that everything is fine...just fine...
Following her wishes, the family will meet in Duncan for her interment beside her husband in Mountain View Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in her memory, please contact your local SPCA - take a walk with your four-legged friend and revel in the beauty of nature - as Nellie did…
