He learned to play a violin as a very young boy about 12 and he earned a few dollars playing at local weddings. At the age of 24 he married Sophie Hrynuik and on May 3, 1936, they started farming in the Prud Homme area. They retired from farming and moved to Cudworth in 1975. He enjoyed gardening, daily card games at the Sr. Centre, going to bingos, and the odd trip to the casino. He moved to the Nursing Home 4 years ago and enjoyed the bingo games and the entertainment they provided, Sunday afternoon was a Kaiser game with his family.
