Patricia Diane Wasylkowski of Marcelin, born in Shellbrook on May 8th, of 1951, whom at the age of 73, left her family peacefully on January 17th, of 2025, at the Shellbrook Hospital, surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends. Patricia was the daughter of the late William James and Mae Muriel Atkinson. Wherein she spent her early years growing up and graduating within Shellbrook, then moved into Prince Albert until her early 20's, before finally making Marcelin her home in 1977.
Known mainly as Pat by most, she was an extraordinarily caring, nurturing, and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandmother, and friend. She was equally known for her warmth, humour, and joy she brought into every room. Even within her final days, despite the battles with her diminishing health, her quick wit and playful nature never faded.
She was also a subtly inventive genius, and unstoppable force of creative talent and artistic design, that was only superseded and surpassed by her sincerely humble and stubbornly modest nature. Beyond tenderly caring for her family, she was known to spend countless hours crafting her various gifts and treasures for not only her loved ones, yet also for any of her many reoccurring patrons throughout the years. It was through her creative process, that she felt the most amount of joy and pleasure within life, just at the thought of being able to share the many rewards of her passionate efforts with anyone who might admire and desire them for themselves.
When not working upon her unending crafts and projects, Pat formally worked most of her adult life at the Credit Union in Marcelin for some 25 years, where she formed lasting friendships, while having a meaningful impact upon her community. Yet it was not until later in life, that she pursued her entrepreneurial spirit by creating her own business, the jewel of her artistic empire, Denim Creations Made by Pat. Which began and blossomed once she started to design and craft unique slippers and other items manufactured from recyclable blue jeans, that blended creativity with sustainability, to excellent results. Allowing her the pleasure to meet new people by traveling throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba, going from one craft show onto the next, and making some great friends along the way.
Yet ultimately, Pat was a very proud and cherished wife, loving mother of three sons, and ever adoring grandmother to four grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Gordon Wasylkowski; her eldest son Michael, and his sons Adam and Owen; her middle son Jason and his wife Mio, with their daughters Ionna and Ellena; her youngest son Brandan; as well as her younger brother Rod, wife Cathy, niece Rebecca, nephew Blake; and her younger sister Sherry, husband Rick, niece Jalisa, and nephew Derek. All of whom will continue to carry her memory with immeasurable love and admiration for all the joy and happiness that she brought into their lives throughout the years.
In accordance to her humble and selfless nature, Pat did not wish for a formal service or funeral. So instead, her family invites all those who knew her to remember her fondly within their hearts, by honoring the creative light and passionate joy she brought into the world. She will be very deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Arrangements and care are entrusted to Pat’s loving niece Amanda Wasylkowski of the Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon.
Interment will take place at the Shellbrook Cemetery at 10:00am on July 19, 2025 with A Celebration of Pat’s Life to follow at 12:00pm at the Shellbrook Senior Citizen’s Centre, 102 Railway Avenue West in Shellbrook, SK.
