It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Martin Ericson at home on March 7th, 2017 at the age of 62. He was born in Winnipeg on July 27th, 1954 and raised in Fort Frances, Ontario in very humble circumstances. He did not let his difficult beginning hold him back and pulled himself up by his bootstraps. After serving a two-year church mission in France as a young adult, he moved to Saskatoon where he met and married the love of his life, Kelly Andrews. He proposed to her on a billboard at the top of the Broadway Bridge for all to see! Paul was a life-long learner, earning a BA, B.Ed., MA, M.Ed. and becoming a clinical hypnotherapist. In 1987, he moved his young family to France for one year, returning five and a half years later with a third child in tow. A fourth child completed the family a few years later. His teaching career took him to Big River, Rosetown, Strasbourg (France), James Smith First Nation, North Battleford, St Louis and Prince Albert. He taught at all grade levels, ending his career loving his Pre-K students! He found great satisfaction helping others in his clinical hypnotherapy practice, including seven years teaching HypnoBirthing with Kelly. Paul had an unquenchable zest for life and a wonderful sense of humour. He was very adventurous, spontaneous, and a go-getter, achieving whatever he set his mind to. His travels with Kelly took them throughout Britain, Europe from Scandinavia to the Balkans, Australia, China, Israel, Grand Cayman, Mexico, Hawaii and Mainland USA. A voracious reader, he was often found with a book, red pencil, and a ruler in hand. Paul was a kind hearted and generous man, always looking for opportunities to help others in need. He was contemplative and spiritual yet bold and a man of action. He loved his family dearly and they loved him. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Ericson; children, Graham (Kendal) Ericson, Kirsten (Tevita) Lui, Nathan Ericson and Evan Ericson; grandchildren, Ned & Gus Ericson and Taylani and soon-to-be-born baby Lui. Also brother-in-law, Bob (Margaret Day) Andrews & sister-in-law, Tracy Andrews, sisters, Erna Lapa and Alona Burger. He will be missed. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (339 Fairmont Dr. Saskatoon, SK). Following the reception, the interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (www.llscanada.org).
