Ralph Joseph Caplette
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son and brother, Ralph Joseph Caplette, on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Paul’s Hospital. Ralph was born on November 17, 1956 in Assiniboia, SK. He lived in Scout Lake, SK until the age of 5 at which time his family moved to Moose Jaw, SK where Ralph attended St. Mary elementary school and Riverview Collegiate. In 1975 he moved to Yorkton, SK. where he met his soulmate, love of his life and lifelong partner Harriet (Lusney). They were married in 1978 in Yorkton, SK and then moved to Saskatoon, SK, which became their permanent home. Ralph then pursued a career as a journeyman welder and fabricator. When unable to work due to illness he took up woodworking as a hobby to fulfill his passion to create. Some of Ralph’s other interests were sports, in particular his love for the Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Montreal Canadiens. In his younger years he played guitar, wrote music and enjoyed listening to all types of music. In 1987 Ralph and Harriet had twins, Kelly and Danielle. Ralph always provided a loving and caring home for his family but also had many challenges in his life due to illness. His strength, integrity, perseverance, optimism and humour were some of the many attributes that made him an extraordinary man. He inspired everyone who met him to find happiness in the present moment no matter the circumstances. Ralph was predeceased by his mother, Alvina, in 2011 and his sister, Doris, in 1990. Ralph is survived by his wife, Harriet, his children, Kelly and Danielle, his father, Harvey and his brother, Larry (Nina). Ralph is also survived by his nephew, Christopher Caplette and his godchild, Brie Shortland (MacPhail). We would like to thank Dr. Mckee, Dr. Kvinlaug, the Nephrology team, Renal unit and nursing staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for their committed care for Ralph.
