Robert Francis Selby was born January 18th, 1943 in Melville, Sask to Francis and Ethel Selby (Clarke). Robert was the middle child and had 2 other siblings, Austin Selby and Marilyn Friesen.
Bob spent his first 5 years in Melville until moving to Moose Jaw for one year. After Moose Jaw, they moved to Saskatoon at the age of 6 where he grew up. After graduating high school he went on to continue his education to become a teacher and received his education certificate in 1963. He had his first job just north of Invermay, Sask at Croydon School in 1963, then moved onto the Belenden School, south of Rama, from 1964 to 1967. Finally he settled at the Lintlaw-Okla School from 1967 to 1994 where he also got to teach his own children.
During Bob’s 51 years in Lintlaw he became very involved with helping the community. He was a fire fighter, first responder, mayor, contractor, farmer, sled mechanic at the local service centre and much more. He also picked up many hobbies like fishing, camping, sledding, and more. Needless to say, he loved his community, enjoyed keeping busy, and loved to help others.
In 1968 Bob married Bernice Matsalla and went on to raise two children, Rhonda Rogers (Kevin), and Cheryl Kentel (Elden).
Bob was blessed with several grandchildren who he loved very much. Cody Lester (Kerri), Michelle MacDonald (Aaron), Mckenna Thom, Dawson Thom, Anisten Thom, Matthew Rogers, Patricia Rogers, and Jenna Kentel. Along with becoming a grandfather, he also became a great-grandfather to Asher, Parker, and Maddox MacDonald, and Kinsley Lester.
As the years progressed Bob and Bernice moved back to Saskatoon in 2018 due to needing to be closer to the city doctors. While in the city, Bob could be found keeping up with every sports game, trying to make it to Elden’s (Cheryl’s husband) farm to help out when he could, and visiting with family.
Bob was predeceased by his father Francis Selby, mother Ethel Selby (Clarke), his brother Austin Selby, and sister Marilyn Friesen.
Bob will be forever loved and live on in our cherished memories, he will be dearly missed by his two daughters, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren along with many others.
As per Bob's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. So instead we all ask that a moment is taken to remember and morn the passing of Robert Francis Selby.
