Rodney William Joseph Adamyk

Rodney will be lovingly remembered by his wife Fern of Saskatoon; sister Celine (Keith) of Beaumont, AB, their children: Kayla, Ryan and Shaun; brother Michael and his children Michelle and Keaton of Saskatoon; and his cousins Theresa (Jim) of Osler, and David (Beverley) of Winnipeg.

He was predeceased by his father William, his mother Marie, grandparents, brothers: Hilary, Louis and Patrick and numerous aunts and uncles.

Rodney was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on November 25, 1952. He lived in various places in Manitoba and Saskatchewan during his childhood. He worked on the oil rigs and later Norcan Air, TimeAir Airlines, which later became Canadian Reginal Airlines. He was later employed as a caretaker for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools for 15 ½ years until his retirement in 2016.

He enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years. His love for hockey, baseball, football and curling filled the hours for the rest of his life as a spectator. He loved attending Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Saskatoon. There he found great peace, joy and comfort. He would give gifts of collectible coins and other gifts to people. It delighted him to see the look of surprise on their faces.

He was a quiet and modest man who walked softly on this earth. His passing will leave an immense emptiness in people’s hearts. He was a superb gardener who always succeeded with a bountiful garden each and every year. He would often give produce away to many people.

He loved his cats tremendously, giving them his undivided attention, often spoiling them. He and his wife Fern would enter their cats, Snuggles and Blossom, in many cat shows, resulting in an abundance of ribbons and prizes. He was a proud cat dad.

Many thanks to the people who visited Rodney in the hospital. Thank you to Dr. Lawton and the nursing staff on 5th floor medicine.

A special thank you to Dr. McMillian and the staff in Palliative Care. Their gentleness and kindness towards Rodney are greatly appreciated. They are angels on earth.

Thank you to Kensington Gentle Care Home for the care they bestowed to Rodney and to Bob and Ron, the homes of the two residents, for their friendship with Rodney. Rodney would often talk at great length about them.

Thank you to all the family and friends for their acts of kindness, prayers and sympathies during this difficult time.

Lastly, thank you to Mourning Glory Funeral Home staff for their compassion and understanding.

Prayer services will be held at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church (2202 Lorne Avenue) in Saskatoon, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
