Ronald Cole

June 29, 1930 – December 24, 2018

Ron Cole, age 88 passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at his residence in Diamond House, Warman, Saskatchewan.  He was born, raised, and educated in Saskatoon where he lived the majority of his life.  In his younger years, he actively played hockey including peewee, midget, juvenile and 4 years with Saskatoon Junior Quakers, as well as the NHL Detroit Farm Team.  He was also active in senior soccer and selected to play against the English All Stars, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspurs and Irish All Stars all before the age of 23.  Ron married his soul mate, Yvonne (Tetreault) Cole on July 2, 1952.  They were married for over 66 years and had 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  Ron worked many years in construction building several homes before joining the City of Saskatoon with the Building Department.  He worked there for 22 years as a Building Inspector and later as Senior Building Inspector.   Ron retired from the City in 1989.  During retirement, Ron and Yvonne spent winters in Arizona and summers at their cabin at Emma Lake.  He enjoyed his workshop at the lake where he made lawn ornaments and other projects.  Ron’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with family and friends.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Yvonne, children Cheryl Cole; Lana (Frank) Teichmann; Crystal (Brian) Checkowy; Darvey (Sherri) Cole; and Colleen (Darryl) Bretzer.  Ron will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Cassidy (Melanie), Chantel (Mike), Drew (Amy), Jordan, Cindy (Keegan), Melissa (Brad), Tanis (Mitch), Devin, Ashley, Marianne, Lindsey, Phillip, Ashton, Braydon and Chalynn (Adam); and great grandchildren Abigail and Phoenix.   Ron was predeceased by his loving daughter Candy Zacharias in 2008.  He was also predeceased by parents Elizabeth and George Cole, parents in law Mabel and John Darvenie Tetreault, and 4 siblings.  Special thank you to the wonderful staff at Diamond House for the loving, compassionate care Ron received during the last few days of his life.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Ave. #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9).  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a..m. on Monday December 31, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Parish  (222 Willow Street, Saskatoon) celebrated by Fr.
