Ruth McConnell

Ruth Winnifred (Gardner) McConnell was born June 12, 1939, at Welwyn, SK to the parents of George and Jean Gardner.

Ruth left Welwyn after finishing grade 11 in Rocanville, SK and moved to Rosetown where she worked in the bank. She later met her husband George McConnell in Dinsmore. They lived in town and then moved to the family farm north of Dinsmore. Ruth was involved with many activities in Dinsmore over the years. She had many friends and was always there to provide a helping hand when needed and to provide that beautiful smile. She enjoyed gardening, harvest time, ski-doo parties with the neighbours, many vacations all while spending time with family and friends. Ruth worked in the Dinsmore Co-op store and Dinsmore Credit Union. In 1994 they sold the farm and moved to Saskatoon where Ruth continued to work in retail at Ben Moss jewellers and Paris jewellers.

Ruth leaves to mourn her husband George of 66 years, daughter Shannon (Rick Sonmor) of Dalmeny and their 3 sons Tony (Candace), Scott, Mitchell (Jazzlynn); daughter Patricia (Ron Boechler) of Saskatoon and their 4 children Matthew (Eryka), Christopher (Kate), Devon, Hannah; great-grandchildren Jenna, Enver, Isla and Layne; sisters Jeanne Bayless and Gladys Smith; sister-in-law Lena Higgins; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth is predeceased by her parents; her son Larry McConnell; brothers Jim Gardner and his wife Donna, Sonny Gardner; brothers-in-law Harry Bayless, Wesley Smith, John McConnell and his wife Doreen, Lorne McConnell and his wife Kay, Bob Higgins.

The family of Ruth would like to thank the entire staff of Dalmeny Special Care Home and Dr Zlipko for the excellent care Ruth received while in their care. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 18th at 1 p.m. at Mourning Glory – Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel, 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon.
