Those that knew Silken loved her. She had a quirky but endearing personality, sense of humour and style. She was loving and caring and always concerned about others despite her overwhelming health challenges.
Silken had a passion for dogs, real and stuffed (toys) and could read and talk about them for hours. Daily trips to the dog park during the warm months and weekends trips to PetSmart (to see and pet dogs) was the norm for many years.
At an early age (5 years old), Silken developed a taste for coffee and, from then on, would need her morning cup of Jo. Whenever we went out, it almost always included a trip to Timmy’s. Tim Horton’s has made a fortune off of us!
She enjoyed listening to her music, watching movies, reading, camping and going on road trips. Silken loved spending time in her sunroom soaking up the rays, even in the winter (heaters blasting).
Silken loved going for car rides, which was almost daily for much of her life. Whenever on a car ride, it was a must that her pet dogs (Panda (2010), Pippa (2020) or Arte) be with her and, if she could swing it, her pet cat (Stella) would also come along (usually by force).
She loved spending time with her Auntie Sabra, Grandma Katie (passed) and Grandpa John. Silken loved her Grandma Jean, Grandpa Jim and Great Grandma Grace. Silken had to call them every day or two. Silken loved her cousins too, more than they will ever know.
Throughout Silken’s life she struggled with cognitive and numerous severe health problems. Silken was a fighter and endured ordeals that most of us cannot imagine. Through it all she was amazingly strong and brave, right to the end. She is our hero.
We will miss you Silken more than can be imagined. You were our life for 27 years. We don’t know how we will carry on without you. You will be on our minds and in our hearts for the rest of our days.
We hope there are lots of dogs (and maybe a few cats for variety) in heaven for you (we are sure there are). Give big hugs to all of our dearly departed.
Love forever,
Mom and Dad
