It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing peacefully of Susan McKay (Fairclough) Dosman, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at age 86, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband James of 63 years; her five children Audrey (Dave), Jill, Andrea Jane, Cara (Thom) and John (Caitlin), as well as grandchildren Christopher (Emma-Love), Tyrell (Anna), Masson, Nathanial, Jack, and Greta.
Sue was born in Toronto on May 20, 1938, to Peter and Marion Fairclough. She was a spirited only child and grandchild for 10 years before the arrival of her beloved twin siblings, Jane and Bill. Active in sports and leadership, Sue received the Goldring Award as the most outstanding all-round female student of Lawrence Park Collegiate in 1956 and qualified in Physical and Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto in 1959. Her first job was in Saskatoon, where she met the love of her life. Sue and Jim were active in the community and especially valued their years of leading refreshment weekends for couples through Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Sue had a profound love of nature and reveled in the seasons shared at their Emma Lake cottage. Sue enjoyed her many years as accounts manager at the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health, as well as her many years in the Grosvenor Park book club and the seniors exercise group at Cosmo Civic Centre, which she drove to by herself until Christmas of this year.
Sue’s currency was love, and her grandchildren adored her. Sue was much loved by all she met because of her presence to each person, and her nonjudgemental attitude of total acceptance.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Sue’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28 at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Avenue S., Saskatoon - corner of Taylor and Munroe) with Fr. Doug Jeffrey, OMI Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan’s Award for First Nations Female Students with Dependent Children at the University of Saskatchewan – visit usask.ca to donate. Arrangements are in care of Kenton Brownridge – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
