Terry Davies was born August 10, 1949, in Wrexham, North Wales. He was the second child of six born to Ernest and Joan. He spoke fondly of his childhood especially his early love of music and taking violin lessons solely so he could use it as a guitar teaching himself to play. This led to his teen years being involved with several bands before joining Roll Movement, which solidified many lifelong friendships.
Terry met Barb in Port Sunlight, England, at a dance he was playing at in 1968. They’ve been together ever since; marrying in 1970. The first of three children, Tracey, arrived in 1971 followed by Mathew in 1973. In 1976 Terry was offered an opportunity as an electrician in Canada at Central Canada Potash mine (currently known as Mosaic) and brought the family over. In 1978, the family was completed with the birth of Kelly. Their family home was eventually made in Watrous in 1980 where they raised the family and remained until the fall of 2023, when they moved to Saskatoon due to Terry’s health needs.
Terry worked as an electrician at the mine for 28 years, with his final years spent as an electrical planner, finally retiring in 2011. He was very proud to work at the mine and was never short of a story about his time there.
Terry loved his road trips taking his family across Canada through the mountains and to many states throughout the years. As well, several trips were made back home to England and Wales to see family and his childhood friends always making time for one more jam session with his band.
During retirement, the love of travel continued with trips to Thailand, South Africa, continental Europe, and Florida. Terry and Barb enjoyed several years wintering in Yuma, Arizona, where new neighbours became lifelong friends. Terry also ensured road trips continued from their holiday home visiting places such as San Diego, Palm Springs, Sedona, and Mexico.
The last 5 years were a test, but he never complained, was never in any pain and fought to the end with humour and lots of love from family and friends.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barb, his daughter Tracey (Delvin), Alyssa (Peyton), Sydney (Brayden) and great granddaughter Lottie. Son Mathew (Angie), Reece and Taryn (Dawson); Daughter Kelly (Carl), Carys and Liam. His sister Kathy (Shawn), brother Gary and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was pre-deceased by his parents Ernest and Joan, his in-laws Ronald and Margaret and Barbara’s grandmother, Annie. As well as his siblings Carol, Allan & Colin, and his brother-in-law Charlie. We also find comfort knowing that he is reuniting with his best friend Lynn Mintkawetz – oh the trouble they’re getting into right now.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the band program at Alvin Buckwold School
His last request was for Barb to bring him a Guinness – Cheers Dad!
