BUCK, Alvin Mark – It is with heavy hearts that the family announces Alvin’s passing on Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Michael’s Hospital at the age of 90 with his son Keith and nephew Darrin by his side and surrounded by the love of his family from home.
Alvin leaves behind his loving wife of almost 65 years, Ruby (Orr). Cherished father of Keith and now reunited with his infant daughter Lorri Jean. Predeceased by his late wife Marion Jean Buck (nee Smith), parents Mark and Isabelle Buck and in-laws David and Mary Orr. Loving brother to late Mervyn Buck (late Shirley) (Pauline), Arlene Hunter (Hugh), Harold Buck (Betty) and Lois Barber (Larry). Brother-in-law to late Jessie Bell (late Wib), late Tom Orr (Norma), late Christena McClelland (late Mervyn), late Erle Orr (late Bev), late Shirley Buck (late Mervyn), Mary Bier (Terry), Neil Orr and the Smith family. Alvin will be remembered as a very special uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his special lifetime friend, Jerry Ryckman with whom he spent many good times at their remote camp at Moose Lake (aka Bone Lake) and several coffee shops around town.
Alvin enjoyed many good times at the family cottage on Diamond Lake. He was the happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many healthcare professionals for their compassion and kindness in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). Funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Helen Smith. Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to Desbarats United Church, Sault Area Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
