Charles Robert Hill

It is with great sadness that the family of Chuck Hill announces his passing on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie, at the age of 75. He passed with his family at his side, after a lengthy illness.

He was the beloved son of the late Reverend John C. Hill and Doris Hill. Husband of wife Carol (nee Leaney) and son-in-law of the late Bill and Helen Leaney. He was the father of son Matthew, (Cynthia), grandchildren Emma, Charlotte, Andrew and Joshua, and son Aaron, (Joelle), grandchildren Jonas and Ezra. He was brother to Lynn, (late Bill), Murray, (late Susan), and Jonathan, (Angie). He was brother-in-law to Dianne and Barry Armstrong. He was also a loved uncle of 10 nieces and nephews.

Chuck was multi-talented in many fields. He was an insurance agent, police officer for the city of Toronto, a commercial helicopter pilot, miner, jail guard and lead station attendant for CP Air/Canadian Airlines, which later was acquired by Air Canada. There he became fast friends with co-workers Keith Mellor and Doug Norris. When we moved to Lake Scugog, he spent many hours as friend to Art Weir, Dale Van Camp, Gord Capes, Robert Andrews and Heather Malcolm Rutherford. He also spent time with lifelong friends Dave and Deirdre Barker and friends who had cottages on the lake.

Leisure hours were spent on the Trent Severn Waterway, skiing, curling, as a Scout Master, on the local church council and playing with his grandchildren and model trains.

A celebration of life will be held at the Blackstock United Church in early May of 2026. A notice will be shared in the local news at the time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions can be made by cheque or online to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Ontario.
