MACDONALD, Clayton – Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Betty for 64 years. Much loved father of Dan (Pat), Lori Battagin (Frank) and the late Chris (Bianca). Proud grandfather of Sarah, Matt, Luke, Nicole, Dillon, Cody, Gregory, Derek and Samantha. Son of the late Donald and Lillian. Dear brother of Ellis (Marjorie), Jim (late Pat), Mac (Jennie) and the late Jeanette Halcrow (late Bill). Special brother-in-law of Janet. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Thursday November 16, 2017 from 10 – 12:30 pm with a service to follow in the chapel at 1 pm. Mrs. Helen Smith and Rev. Dr. David Zub officiating. Memorial donations made to Willowgrove United Church or ARCH or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Rough and rugged hands that worked 

bone deep: land, wood and steel

Sweet strong arms that held gently 

those of us so young and loved

Foot stomping in time to a fierce fiddle, 

a genius in the joy of music 

His voice of bellow and boom

that was heard and heeded

(most of the time)

The only one the babes did trust

for haircuts in the sink

(our personal baby barber)

Memories of house and home,

of camp and sugar shacks 

where he will always live in love 

with we who remember and remain

Those hands, and arms, 

that sweet melody,

that man of trust and love
