Beloved and devoted husband of Ginette for 59 years. Cherished and proud father of Steven (Charlene), Denis (Lianne) and Michael (Tammy). Adored grandfather and papa of Joshua, Michael, Conner (Erika), Aiden and Lily. Brother-in-law of Dan, Uncle of Danny, Norma, Cara and Micheline. Preceded by his parents Arthur and Robena, his sister Gloria and his nieces Sylvie and Kim. Dave will be dearly missed by his many lifelong friends from his parish Sainte-Marie-du-Sault and his good friends, Jean (George), Pat, Judith, Eitel and Denise.
Dave met the love of his life at a Dance in Port Cartier Quebec. He had to learn French to speak to her and she learned English in return. He came home and told his mother that he met the girl he was going to marry, and marry her, he did. They moved to the Sault and Dave started his 50+ year career on the force where he worked as a police officer for 27 years then after a brief retirement, he rejoined the force as a special constable at the courthouse for 23+ more years. He served his community with unwavering devotion, honour and pride.
He was always concerned about his boys, he made sure they stayed busy with hockey, baseball, lacrosse and fishing. He regularly took part in the coaching of the teams or helping in the activities the boys were involved with. Once the boys had children of their own, he and Ginette would take the grandchildren every Friday overnight for Grandpa and Grandpa night. He and Ginette would attend most if not all of the swim meets, hockey games, football games and every school event the grandchildren were involved with.
Dave loved riding is Harley Davidson, he made 2 trips to Sturgis South Dakota and one trip to PEI and rode many locale roads with his sons. He and Ginette made many trips to Cuba with their Amigos. He had a talent for woodworking and made all kinds of projects he took a lot of pride in. The last few years, doing puzzles with family and going for rides to Bellevue Park and the marina were activities he liked. GO HABS GO, a lifelong fan.
He was a great man, a great father, grandfather and papa, but most of all a great husband to the love of his life Ginette. He will be missed, and the memories will be cherished forever. Dave also had many fur babies, and he leave behind his last one Angel who will miss her buddy. The last 2 years he suffered with dementia and although this robbed him of many of his short- and long-term memories, his love and spirit endured. Dave spent his life being loving, fair, kind, compassionate and loyal to his community and above all else his family. We love you and will miss you forever!
