The family of David Sweet is heartbroken to announce his peaceful passing at home on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Husband of Janice MacKay. Father of Kealy (Robin) and Kyle. Predeceased by his parents Clifford and Teenie Sweet, and his nephew William Pozy. Son-in-law of the late Robert and Eileen MacKay. Brother of Margaret Billam (late Kenneth) and Fred Sweet (late Katherine Lippell).
David had many interests, but music remained a constant theme throughout his life. He had a deep passion for it, both as a listener and a performer. As a youth, he played the trumpet in the Kiwanis Band and continued to share his talent for decades afterward, performing with several local bands. Most recently, David played in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 Pipe and Trumpet Band and the SteelTown Silver Band.
At David’s request, there will be no funeral. The family had a private goodbye on Sunday, April 19th. A public Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, between 6:00 and 9:00 PM in the Merrifield Room.
