

BROWN, Gladys M. (Charlie) – Passed away peacefully at her home at 144 East Balfour Street on Friday, August 24, 2012. My wife was born in Gould, QC on January 1, 1931. She was raised in Chookshire, Quebec the youngest child of the late Leslie G. and Mable McKay. Educated in QC she moved to work in the Nipigon Red Cross Outpost Hospital where we met and married on October 28, 1950. (Hey we nearly made 62 years). Gladys and I lived in Port Arthur, Hearst, Mosher and finally in the Soo since 1964. She worked at Canada Post for 20 years. Our sons Bill (Erica) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Jim (Cathy) of Pembroke and Murray, of Lomond, Alberta. Our grandchildren are Chris Brown and Beverley Bosma of the Soo and Anden Brown of Pembroke. Our great grandchildren Jack and Ben Bosma of the Soo. Siblings deceased are Bill McKay of Cookshire, QC, Beryl Bailey (late Raymond) of Lennoxville, QC and Elizabeth Royea (late Cliff) of Sherbrook. Survived by Mildred (late Herb), Sam Luis Obispo, CA and Miriam (late Maurice) of Arnprior, ON. Survived by nieces and nephews in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. Two very special friends are Mark Chojnowski and Terry Henderson. We have lived at 144 East Balfour 7 days short of 44 years. Gladys was a member of F.E.S.NA. Our appreciation to Community Care Access Centre, We Care and Bayshore. They were wonderful and caring. Thank you OHIP. How do you sum up Glady’s Life? You remember all of the family and friends that she loved and cherished. I think of all those dinners and the hundreds of birthday cakes (true) that she made and decorated for us. My memories are made wonderful by her. She gave me (us) many precious moments. We will never forget.

As per Glady’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. Interment at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society of A.R.C.H. would be appreciated by the family.
