TURNER, Grace Susan (née Lane) - On Monday, December 15, 2025, Grace peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice at the age of 72.
Daughter of the late Harold and Carol Lane. Grace is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Bryan Turner; her adored daughters Sara (Russ) and Laurie; and her cherished grandchildren Zoe (Kal), Turner, Anika, Huddson, and Kjell; and granddogs Suhzie and Suna.
Baby sister to the late Julia Hillmann (Rudy), Ted Lane (Lorraine), Gloria Tuck (Bruce), the late infant Thomas, and Carolyn Lane-Rock (late Bill). Sister-in-law to Marilyn Yanni (late Pat), the late Bruce Turner (late Donna) and Sally Devoe (Jack). Grace will also be lovingly remembered by her many close friends.
Born on June 29, 1953, on Barrie Island. Grace was bright, determined, and academically gifted—so much so that she skipped a grade and was always striving for top marks. In June of 1967, she began dating Bryan, and the two were married on August 25, 1973, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion, faith, and joy. They later welcomed their treasured daughters and raised them in Sault Ste. Marie. Together they made countless memories—camping in their trailer, spending time on Manitoulin Island, cheering at the girls’ soccer games, and spending hours playing on the boat until the sun went down.
Grace became a Medical Laboratory Technologist in 1973, beginning a 37-year career at Sault Area Hospital. She was deeply proud of her profession and eventually served as the head of the Haematology Department where she was a mentor to many. Her dedication, precision, and kindness were hallmarks of her work and her character.
Grace’s faith was the centre of her life, guiding her with strength, humility, and compassion.
She and Bryan shared a spirit of adventure, touring Canada and the United States on their Gold Wing— even travelling as far as the East Coast and North Carolina. They took cruises and travelled to hot places. At home, Grace found joy in her garden, tending to the beauty she nurtured there as lovingly as she did her family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at ARCH for their exceptional care and compassion, and to the many friends who visited and supported Grace during her stay.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at Hillside Free Methodist Church (753 McNabb Street) on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:30 pm. Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to ARCH would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Turner family.
