The family of our dearly loved mother Gwen would like to announce the peaceful passing at the F.J. Davey Home at the age of 93.
Devoted wife and lovingly reunited with the love of her life, Walter Wolowich. Our loss in death ends a life, not a relationship, they are joined in eternal rest. Beloved mother of Ronald Wolowich (Debbie), late Karen Crossman, Patricia Poirier (Rejean), Leanne Schmid (Terry), and Dawn Kuhlenbaumer (Roger). Loving nana of Jeffrey, Mischa (Jacob), late Jamie, Gregory, Scott (Nicole), Natalie, Ryan (Tanya), Danny (Crystal), Tyler, Elisa (Chris), and Kellen (Jennifer). Her legacy includes great grandchildren, Trent, Isabel, Emma, Owen, Lilith, Logan, Daniel and Dean.
Daughter of the late Mark and Jean Johnson. Dear sister of the late Marion Godfrey (Damon), late Ronald Johnson (late Rose), late Gerald Johnson (Sharron), late Elizabeth Fiacconi (Henry), late Kenny Johnson (Barbara), Leslie Johnson (Shirley), and late Lynn Johnson (Cathy).
Our adored mother, even though your physical presence is absent, we dearly hold onto the lasting life long memories of your smile, laughter, wisdom, the twinkle in her eyes with countless long talks many of them occurring with all 4 girls in one bathroom. We share immense gratitude for her lifetime of sacrifices and provided each one of us with a unique bond.
Mom and Dad together enjoyed their days at Blue Water Bay. So many family memories created there, saunas, swims, mushroom hunting, nightly games, and repeated VHS tapes. Bravo to my mom for packing up 5 kids, and all the necessities while dealing with only and icebox, coleman stove and a shared generator in the early cottage times. They hosted numerous family, friends and neighbors gatherings including their annual Wednesday night mixed league summer parties, much fun and laughter lifetime friendships resulted.
Gwen carried such pride in her working career which in her early years initiated at Cochrane's Department Store with her role in sales. She mastered to perfection the art of gift wrapping , so much so we never wanted to open our gifts because they were too pretty. She later excelled in bookkeeping, both career and every aspect of life. If you had a penny missing, she could find it. We hope heaven is ready for a corporate reorganization of neatness and tidy.
Thank you mom, for showing us the meaning of strength, unwavering determination and perseverance. We are forever grateful for the love we shared.
The family of Gwen would like to thank F.J. Davey Home for providing the passing of our mother with kindness, dignity and respect on 2nd floor palliative serenity room. Thank you to Dr. Sharp for continually monitoring and informing us of my mother's ongoing care.
Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). A Celebration of Life will be announced. Internment at Greenwood Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for Wolowich family.
