My condolences goes out to the Gilmour family.  Karen was a wonderful colleague who I had the greatest pleasure to work with.  She was witty and light-hearted in the teacher's room and I always remembered our fun chats about stocks, cats, and everything in between.  When I first started teaching at GBC, she gave me a lot of great tips not just in teaching but in life and I will always be thankful for that.  She will be sorely missed by the college community.

I am so sad to hear of Karen's passing. We worked together off and on at several schools over many years in Toronto and spent time socially. She was a  smart, caring and talented educator who  made a positive  difference in her students' lives . She was also a very generous and supportive colleague and helped shape many of my early approaches to teaching ( as I was pretty new  when we first started working together). She was funny and silly, and we laughed a lot together.

To the Gimour Family. I wish I could be there today but I will be with you in thoughts and spirit.  My condolences to you all again. Dear Joe and Marie, no parent should have to bury their child. May all the the many good memories give you  strength now and moving forward . I hope this too for Karen's brothers Paul and Phil, I also want Karen's nieces to know that their crazy aunt always brightened up when she was speaking about the little Gilmour girls. I hope you can hold on to the memories you have, of her, for she was one of a kind and she would say,  so are you!

I am so sorry to hear about Karen's passing. I remember in our childhood years spending some nights at her house playing boggle. May you rest in peace.

Karen was a well loved teacher at George Brown’s School of ESL and one of my favourite colleagues. She will be so missed. My deepest condolences to her family for this terrible loss. Karen was a gem.

I'm shocked at the the news of Karen's sudden passing, and I can't imagine how you are all feeling.  I worked with Karen for many years at GBC, and she was a dedicated, hardworking and caring teacher.  She advocated for her students and they loved her. I remember hearing stories of her time in Korea and how much her students looked out for her there.  She has touched the lives of thousands of students around the globe and helped them on their paths to higher learning and into their careers.  She was funny, kind and smart.  She also had the best smile - with that twinkle in her eye!  I can't express how sorry I am for all the people who loved her.  She should have had years to enjoy new adventures and life in Toronto and the Sault.  I knew she was excited at the prospect of spending more time up north.  Sending my deepest condolences.

I had the privilege of working with Karen at George Brown. She was a compassionate and dedicated educator who cared deeply for her students. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and transformative teaching that touched the lives of countless students in our program.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Karen’s family. May you find comfort in knowing the profound impact she had on her students and colleagues in our program. She will be deeply missed.

About 12 years ago, I was lamenting my work life.  I am a chef and had recently ended my food truck/catering business. Feeling pretty glum, Karen was trying to offer ideas. She suggested looking at care facility jobs. I retorted quickly that I had tried that once but quit after 1 day because of the horrendous food quality. She quickly and with a little extra sharpness said , " Those residents deserve your passion".  It hit me hard but perfectly. Within a month I was working at 4 different facilities. I feel like I truly make a difference at my job. I have had my fair share of burnout, especially during covid but Karen didn't just talk big. She lived big. She became a long distance life line, always bringing me rest, just with her honest friendship. She could listen well and never judged me. And she ALWAYS made me laugh. She was a top level friend that I will miss dearly.🖤

I will never be able to refill the gap that has been torn from my heart, dear Karen. Your wit, compassion, humour and adventurous spirit is irreplaceable.  I wish I had a recording of your laughter as it always made me feel like I was in the presence of a leprechaun.  Your sparkling eyes added to the mischievous  element, which i loved!
Thanks for being such a great friend.  I want to imagine you dancing hard with the fairies. We all miss you beyond words.  I'm gonna go destry something but you my friend,  you please, ...Rest in peace.
