Fay, daughter of Tom and Violet (King) Moar, was born and raised in Desbarats, schooled locally and at Tech in Sault Ste. Marie. Fay worked at Dawson’s Insurance as a young lady and loved her work family.
She then met her true love, Austin McClelland (deceased 2011), courted, and married in 1954. Fay followed Austin to Elliott Lake where they worked and settled for a short time. They made Desbarats their permanent home in 1958, working together as co-owners of the Hardware Business and raising three children, Marcia, Clinton and Kelly (deceased 2023).
Fay was a life member of both Desbarats Women’s Institute and Desbarats United Church Women as an avid member, never missing a meeting to organize the catering and fundraising events in support of church work and community groups. She kept her fellow W.I. and U.C.W. members organized and always on time.
Fay loved her family, her siblings and her in-laws. No matter the gatherings, she was there supporting and having fun among them all. Whether it be the camp at Diamond Lake, the Florida retreat, warm stays at the cabin, the golf getaways or all the travel trips.
Fay had friends she loved, and they most assuredly loved her back. Coffee hour group in later years provided fun and inspiration. Her COVID “bubble” group kept her keen and involved and full of laughs. Her daily and nighttime caregivers, professional support worker, medical professionals and her senior supporters who helped keep her at home, you are so appreciated and always went above and beyond.
To all these aforementioned people, a beautiful thank you and hugs of love.
In everything chocolate, remember Fay.
