I am just becoming aware of this information. My deepest condolences go out to Mr. Amin and all of his friends and family.

Many years ago, Mr. Amin was my tutor in Math at Parkland Public school. Math was always a very difficult subject for me. As a scared and frustrated little girl, I was always treated with such patience and kindness by Mr. Amin. He took the time with me and was gentle with me and my frustration. He always made me feel capable and important and treated me with respect that I valued so much as a child. My experience with him was time well spent. A wonderful man and teacher indeed.

I was a student teacher with Mohamed about 20 years ago. I was just going to contact him to let him know how much I appreciate what I learned from him, how I still count myself lucky for having my first teaching experience with him. I googled him to see how I could contact him. I then realized I was too late in communicating this appreciation. My thoughts are with his family.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Asweem's passing.  I was very sad when I heard the the news.  
I have great memories of him when I was a youngster.  I met you once I want to say it was either in Guyana or in Toronto cannot remember I was so young.  Did not have the pleasure of meeting the girls but heard so much about them from Aunti Naz.  Also your grandchildren.  Just beautiful!!!
He was delightful and always similing.  What a loving man and a blessed one with a wonderful and blessed family.  It's heart breaking please know you all are in my prayers for God's comfort and His peace during this difficult time.

I too am a former student of Mr. Amin as many others here are passing on our  condolences to the Amin family.

He was an amazing man who had a passion for teaching, Of all the teachers I had he was the only one that had a lasting impact on me. 

I still remember fondly the class trip we took to his home on St Joe's Island and the way he and his family welcomed us into his home. Even though it's been over 30 years since I've seen him I have never forgotten him or the way he treated his students.

We were people to him and not just a bunch of kids. He always gave us his all and treated everyone with respect and kindness.

I look back at my days at Alex Muir and all the great teachers we had and quite simply he was one of the best.


I'm glad that you're were my teacher;
As a role models you inspired me
To dream and to work and to reach.

Every day you were planting a seed
Of curiosity and motivation
To know and to grow and succeed.


Rest In Peace Mr Amin and thank you for  for all you have done, your legacy lives on in the all your students.

   I had been friends with Lauren for a few years, and I had also had Mo as an instructor for my Special Education qualifications. So when I had an interview for a contract teaching position come up, Lauren "hooked me up" with Mo so he could help me prepare. 
   While practising at his dining room table, he introduced himself (as an interviewer) and "Mr. Flowerpot", one of his houseplants. When I chuckled, he told me that during my interview, it's best not to laugh or smile too much, because the interviewers might think I'm nervous or not taking the interview seriously.
   At the real interview, I walked into a room with 3 principals who were already smiling and laughing. Partway through the interview, I told them that a former principal had told me not to be too jovial, and that I was literally biting my cheeks so that I wouldn't smile so much; they told me to just be myself. I ended up getting hired.
    I don't think Mo was trying to tell me to not be myself; I do think it was just his way of saying that you have to read the room, just like you do with a group of students.
   His help allowed me to begin my permanent teaching career that year, and I am glad that my journey in education included him.

Over the years I have only had the pleasure meeting Mohamed a few times at family functions. He was a very caring and sweet man. My deepest condolences to the Amin and Leonardo families.

I too am a former student of Mr. Admin when he taught at Alex Muir. He was an inspiration and dedicated to helping all of his students acheive their best. I learned math from him...really learned math! I hold many fond memories of him to this day and know that he is one of the reasons I became a teacher. My sincere sympathies to the family.

I heard the news, and was first struck with shock and sorrow in my heart, then as time went on, my thoughts moved more and more to the positive memories of times spent with Mo, and especially thankful I got to know him over the years, and as anyone who knows Mohamed, I don't need to tell you how warm, kind, patient and friendly he was, and what a great family man and example he was to all of us, young and old. 

I'm sure he was loved by all his students and coworkers for the same and many other reasons...other points of quality of character I won't attempt to list here. 

Goodbye, my friend, until we meet again on the other side ! And to Kathy, the girls, and extended family, please take comfort in such thoughts and memories, though I know your hearts must still be heavy with grief at such a profound loss. As you know, time will heal that too. 

Take heart, and may the Great God Almighty provide comfort to you all at this time, and going forward.

I only knew your father briefly. He was a sweet man. When you were away and spoke on the phone with him, you always had a  brilliant smile upon your face. He is a part of you. I thank him for having you as a daughter, so I can have an amazing friend. My condolences to you and your family. *hugs*

My condolences to the whole Amin family.  'Mo" was one of the most kind, caring and gentle people I've ever known.  He loved education, children and his family.  Two weeks ago I commented to him that he looked like a relaxed, windswept surfer in his khaki shorts, white polo shirt and sandals.  He will be missed.

As an avid reader, I enjoyed many interesting chats with Mo at the SSM public library when he would come to get the latest mysteries or whatever struck his fancy that day.  He was a kind and thoughtful man and he will be missed by so many.  My condolences to his entire family.

Praying for healing in you time of sadness.

Mr. Amin was my principal for a few years at Prince Charles, and memories of him are still with me to this day. It saddens me to hear of his passing, and I give my greatest sympathies to the loved ones he's left behind.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Mo's passing. He was the first teacher I worked with as an EA (1984-85). Since becoming a teacher myself I have met him on several occasions and always enjoyed our chats. My deepest condolences to his family.

Mr. Amin was my teacher for Grade 7 and 8 back in the 1970s.  He made a profound difference in my life.  He nurtured my curiosity and inspired in me a desire to excel.
