

BERGERON, Noel – Peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital (Plummer Site) on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the age of 52 years. Predeceased by his parents Rose and Henry Bergeron. Loving brother of Irene Hull, Lawrence (Joanne), Jeannette Schwam (Ed), Amos (Donna), Joanne Crawford (Doug), Richard (Kathy) and Rose Anne Trudel (Victor). Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Very special friend of Donna Williamson and Jim Stocco, special friend of Brenda and Rick McLaughlin and Vicky Stewart. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11 am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Community Living Algoma or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
Noel Bergeron was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Noel was born on December 25, 1956 at General Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He was the son of Rose and Henry Bergeron. Noel grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Noel was raised with seven siblings. He had three older brothers Lawrence, Amos and Richard; three older sisters Irene, Jeannette and Joanne; a younger sister Rose Anne. Noel was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Noel had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Noel was an active child who took part in floor hockey and baseball. He was a Scout. However, to Noel, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, Noel enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best friends were Donna Williamson, Jim Stocco, Brenda and Rick McLaughlin, Vicky Stewart and Charlie.
Fortunately, Noel enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Noel worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was employed for over 25 years by Soogoma. Noel always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Noel enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were he loved music and dancing. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
When Noel’s retirement finally arrived in 2008, he was well prepared. Even in retirement, Noel continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Noel was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Noel passed away on October 7, 2009 at Sault Area Hospital- Plummer Site. He is survived by his brothers Lawrence, Amos and Richard and his sisters Irene, Jeannette, Joanne and Rose Anne. Services were held at The Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Chapel. Noel was laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Simply stated, Noel was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Noel leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Noel Bergeron.
