

LONGARINI, Richard Carlo (November 25, 1965 – September 9, 2025) – Richard passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice in his 60th year.
Richard is now reunited with his parents Carlo and Gabriella Longarini. Loving brother of Robert Longarini (late Diane) who will miss him dearly. Predeceased by his grandparents Julio and Elvira Longarini, and Vittario and Maria Calliari. Cherished nephew of Sergio Calliari (Elaina) (of Italy), JoAnne Longarini (late Gino) and predeceased by Orefo Longarini, Rita Foster (late John), Armando Longarini, and Bruno Longarini. Dear cousins of Timothy, Donna and late Andrew (of Kamloops B.C.), Marco (of Italy), Jeff, David (Tania), Krista (Darryl), Mary Ellen, Francine, Shelly, Nancy Pedinelli & family and Marilyn Rouleau & family. Richard will be missed and fondly remembered by many many friends.
Richard was born in Bolzano, Italy in 1965 and immigrated with his mom and dad at 5 months old to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, where they started their life at Central Park. Richard was a long-time member of the Rod and Gun Club as well as an avid Boston Bruins fan. He was outgoing and could make friends anywhere he went. He had a passion for history and enjoyed educating others. He was a proud steel worker and served many years at Algoma Steel. Richard had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back, that was the kind of man he was. He will be truly missed.
Special thank you to Heather Moss, Mike, Rod and Shela who went above and beyond for Richard. Also to the Coletti family, Tucci family, the Biocchi family, Steve Bertolo and Lou Salvalaggio for the many years of friendship. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at ARCH for making Richard’s last days comfortable and for the care and compassion of their team.
Family and friends are invited to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest with his parents at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to A.R.C.H., the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
