June 27, 1935 - October 28, 2025
Ron Fraser, known affectionately as Bubba to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
He was born on June 27, 1935, in Marydale, Nova Scotia, where he grew up on a farm as the youngest of eleven children.
After graduating from the Plumbing and Pipefitting program at George Brown College, Ron worked across the country before settling in Sault Ste. Marie. He began his career there as a city inspector and later joined Sault College as a plumbing and pipefitting instructor, eventually becoming Coordinator of Trades. Over the years, he shared his skills and wisdom with countless students, many of whom went on to successful careers of their own. Ron retired in 1998 after a long and dedicated career in the trades.
Ron will be deeply missed by his daughters Ellen Corcoran (late Mike) (Eugene Filice) and Roni Fraser (Derek Desilets); his beloved grandchildren Matthew Corcoran, Carlee Corcoran (Chase Wigmore), Dylan Nantais (Kristen Stephens), Riley Bazinet (Ryan Bazinet), and Reese Malleau; and his great grandchildren Lillias Bazinet and Marshall Stephens-Nantais. He was also a proud "bonus great-grandfather" to Carter Bazinet, Mackenzie Stephens, and Carter Stephens. Predeceased by his beloved wife Toots in 2017 and by all ten of his siblings, Ron was a cherished uncle to many and a friend to all who knew him.
Ron loved the outdoors, spending countless happy hours hunting, ice fishing, and enjoying nature. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and had a lifelong love of music. Known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and storytelling, Ron brought laughter and warmth wherever he went.
His legacy of hard work, kindness, and laughter will live on through his family, his students, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
